Daily Activities Log

Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

 

On the 22nd, 7:40AM till 8:30AM, [representatives from] Takasaki, Japan came to visit Premier [Zhou Enlai] and Vice Premier [Chen Yun]. From 8:30AM till 9AM conducted the signing ceremony on the [treaty] regarding dual nationality with Indonesia. From 9AM until 12:30AM, and from 4PM until 7PM the meeting of delegation heads continued. They created the draft resolution committee on the issue of colonialism and dependencies. At 1PM, the Premier [Zhou Enlai] asked the Laotian delegation head and three other representatives to lunch, and the Vice-Premier [Chen Yun] accompanied them. At 2PM, the Premier [Zhou Enlai] attended the above mentioned draft resolution committee. At 7PM we attended the tea party held by Sudan. From 7PM until 9PM, the Premier [Zhou Enlai] invited [the delegates of] India, Burma, Indonesia, Ceylon, Afghanistan, Nepal, Syria, Thailand, Philippines to dinner (the delegates of India and Burma did not attend because of other affairs). Our delegation and advisors attended and accompanied [the dinner party]. At 9:30PM, the Premier [Zhou Enlai] attended the cocktail party held by Saudi Arabia. At 10:25PM, Premier [Zhou Enlai] went to [Jawaharlal] Nehru’s place to discuss with India, Burma and the four countries of Indochina about the Indochina question. Vice Premier [Chen Yun], Minister Yeh, Ambassador Huang and myself accompanied. The two small economic and cultural committees have ended today and passed separately their report for the general assembly.
