21 October 1957

I informed Nam Il that a decision had been made about the display of mobile Soviet scientific and technical exhibits about the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes in countries of people's democracy and some capitalist countries in 1957-1959. The length of the display of the exhibit is to be no more than 30 days. The expenses associated with the organization and holding of the exhibit are to be borne by the Soviet side. It is proposed that the display of the exhibit in Pyongyang be in June 1958. I asked that the possibility of the organization of the exhibit and the indicated time of the display be considered.

I informed Nam Il that, on the instructions of the Soviet government, five million meters of cotton will be shipped to the DPRK in October of this year by the USSR Ministry of Foreign Trade.

Nam Il said that he will report about the exhibit to Kim Il Sung and report the leadership's opinion tomorrow. He expressed gratitude for the information about the cotton.
