TO THE CPSU CENTRAL Committee

Letters are coming to the CPSU CC, USSR MFA, and Ministry of Defense from family members of Korean officials sent for permanent work in the DPRK between 1945 and 1947. The letters contain complaints that the comrades who left for the DPRK have stopped communicating and are not helping the relatives, wives, and children who remained in the USSR.

Through the Soviet Embassy in the DPRK the attention of the Korean comrades has repeatedly been directed to the need to solve the problem of the departure of the families for Korea or to give them appropriate aid. We attach a list of 17 Korean officials, the question about whose families is still not resolved. Also attached are some of the letters which have recently come to the CPSU CC.

We consider it advisable to direct the attention of Cde. Kim Il Sung to the incorrect behavior of some Korean officials who have ignored their families in the USSR.

[Translator's note: among the usual numerous notations at the end of the document is: "Memo: [I] talked with Cde. Kim Il Sung as agreed. He promised to take the necessary steps. Chief of a Sector of the CPSU CC Department. I. Shcherbakov. 3 June 1955". The list of the 17 officials and letters follow.]

Ponomarev and Schcherbakov bring up issues which have arisen from a lack of communication between Korean officials in the DPRK and their families in the USSR.
