THE RECEPTION OF

NADIR ARASTEH, THE IRANIAN AMBASSADOR IN MOSCOW

 

21 May 1952

 

Today at 1330 I received the Iranian Ambassador in Moscow Nadir Arasteh, to whom I handed the note of the Soviet Government in connection with the exchange of letters between Prime Minister Mossadegh and US Ambassador in Iran Henderson which occurred at the end of April concerning the issue of renewing American so-called aid to Iran (the text of the note is attached).

 

Having described the content of the note, I asked the Ambassador to convey it to the Iranian government.

 

Arasteh promised to immediately take steps to pass the note to Tehran.

 

The conversation lasted five to seven minutes. Cde. Yakushin, Second Secretary of the Near and Middle East Department was present at the conversation.
