7 January

I visited Pak Chang-ok with Counsellor Petrov and instructor of the technological institute Ippolitov. Ippolitov told about his trip to the mines of the coal industry and ore mining enterprises of the non-ferrous metal industry.

Ippolitov pointed to serious shortcomings in the operation of ore mining enterprises and the poor organization of the surveying service, as a result of which up to 50% of the useful ore is not being recovered and remains in the shafts, which causes serious damage to the economy.

As a result of an examination of this issue, Pak Chang-ok said that the Korean friends will study this issue and plan out measures to eliminate the shortcomings. They will hold courses in retraining surveyors in 1956 and organize on-site seminars. We promised to help pursue this work and in giving lectures in these courses.

Ryu Chuk-un, chief of a department of the coal industry, took part in the conversation.
