Declaration of the Algerian Delegation at the Council of the Organization for Afro-Asian Solidarity
The Algerian Delegation thanks the Council for its warm welcome of Algeria and the vote on the resolution concerning our country. However, this resolution on Algeria prompts a number of comments from our Delegation.
Our resolution conceptually includes two parts.
In the first part, the council supports the struggle of the Algerian people and the political positions of the Algerian revolution led by the GPRA. Those positions are just, checked daily relative to the facts: The scope and the strength of the struggle of the Algerian people: those are spearheading the struggle that the peoples of Africa and Asia are waging under other forms against imperialism.
The second part includes a political provision.
On this matter, another comment must be made – it is that when it comes to Algeria, there is a certain gap between the resolutions adopted, the measures proposed, and their implementation in practice. Imperialism doesn’t talk; it acts. And the Algerian people is well positioned to understand the reality of the imperialist coalition which it must face.
Accordingly, it is imperative that the Afro-Asian movement translate into facts what it agrees to verbally. This movement will only accomplish its mission by acting – without doing so it is bound to become a mere tribune for propaganda, and thus condemn itself to stagnation and ineffectiveness.
And what is true for Algeria is also true for Congo and the other problems of Africa and of Asia.

A report from the GPRA's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, detailing a statement from an Algerian delegation at the Council of Organization for Afro-Asian Solidarity. The Algerian delegation first recognizes and justifies the support pledged by the Afro-Asian movement for the Algerian struggle, and places the Algerian struggle within the context of the larger Afro-Asian struggle against imperialism. The delegation then says that the Council must close a gap between solely verbal commitments (suggested to be made without accompanying action) and tangible support and action backing these commitments up.
