Re: the continuation of my participation in the work of the International Commission for the Current Far Eastern Affairs and the European Association for China Studies

As a permanent member of the Commission (I have been the only Polish representative, while other socialist countries have at least two), I should take part in the work of this important session of the Commission [to be held in Bulgaria]. Given the financial situation of the Institute for Socialist Countries in the Polish Academy of Sciences where I am employed at the moment…may make this [participation] impossible. This was indeed the case when I was not able to attend the session of the Council of the European Association for China Studies this past November. I don't doubt that the [CC PUWP] International Department fully appreciates the participation of a least one Polish representative in both of these important international organizations whose focus is the study of China – an important and current topic.

I would like to express my deepest conviction that, as always in difficult matters, we will find aid and support of the leadership of the CC International Department of our party.
