…A conference of Ambassadors and chargés d'affaires was held at the [office] of Fischer, the dean of the diplomatic corps. We exchanged opinions on the issue of organizing information from the ambassadors about the most important domestic and foreign policy events of our countries. The ambassadors eagerly accepted the suggestion and for their part several named which issues about which they could speak. I offered to speak about the issues of: a) the result of the fulfillment of the semiannual plan and the restructuring of the management of industry and construction, and b) the achievements of the USSR during the 40 years since the Great October Socialist Revolution. The ambassadors eagerly approved.

In the evening I was at the MFA at a report by General Jeong Gwang-rok, who told of the work of the Military Commission and the Neutral Korean Armistice Commission.

I visited Nam Il. I informed him of Sweden's position about the issue of the work of the Neutral Commission.

 

I asked, if possible, to be informed on the 14th of the response about candidates for foreign members of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

 

In connection with the work being conducted by the MVD concerning the investigation of conspiratorial activity of the anti-Party group of Choe Chang-ik, Pak Chang-ok, and others and all sorts of rumors and inventions which have appeared among the population in connection with the arrest of some people who had joined this group, I cautiously expressed apprehension about the advisability for the MVD, as intended, to occupy a residential building which has been readied for handover for the work of the investigations staff for a month and a half or two.

 

Nam Il agreed with these apprehensions and noted that he will talk about Minister of Internal Affairs Pang Hak-se about this issue.

 

Nam Il informed [me] that [the following] greetings had been prepared in connection with the celebration of the liberation of Korea,15 August: to the CPSU from the KWP CC and to the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet, the USSR Council of Ministers, and the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the corresponding DPRK bodies.

 

I told Nam Il that as far as I know greetings had been prepared from our side from the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet, the USSR Council of Ministers, and the CPSU CC to the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the KWP CC, and another greeting from Minister Cde. Gromyko to Minister Cde. Nam Il. Therefore the greetings from the Korean friends also ought to be correspondingly sent to the same addresses. However, Nam Il did not agree with me…

At a conference of Ambassadros, Puzanov offers information on the DPRK's economic progress and the USSR's achievements since the Great October Socialist Revoloution. He also visits Nam Il and inquires about the investigations of anti-Party North Korean leaders and North Korean greetings to USSR officials.
