13 April 1960

I received GDR Ambassador Kurt Schneidewind.

The Ambassador provided information that there are instructions from the GDR MFA about a broader celebration of the 15th anniversary of victory day. The Ambassador asked whether the Soviet Embassy has any instructions about this.

I replied that we do not have yet instructions about celebration of the 15th anniversary of victory day.

Kurt Schneidewind provided information that a mass cooperation of peasants had taken place in the first quarter of this year. As a result, the percentage of collectivization of peasant farms in December 1959 had risen from 53% to 85% in April of this year

In return I informed the Ambassador about the attitude of the Soviet government toward the latest FRG note.

In the course of the conversation opinions were exchanged about the DPRK Cabinet of Ministers Decree about improvement of the system of state purchases which had occurred, the situation in South Korea, etc.
