Beirut, May 7, 1949

Number 37/ In May 1944, the two Communist Parties of Syria and Lebanon held their general conference in which they decided the independence of the two of each other and that June 1 will be their national day.

I have learned from a number of communists that the two parties had decided to hold a joint meeting for this occasion in the last days of this month to go over the situation in the country, issue a statement with the work made by them and the useless policies of the Arab countries.

It is expected that this meeting will be held in Beirut.  I will attempt to find out more about it soon.

Plans for a joint meeting of the Syrian and Lebanese Communist Parties at the end of May.
