Untitled report on a Communist conference in Cyprus

On Jul 5, 1949, the communists, and other leftist parties in support of them, had held a meeting in Cyprus, in Larnaca, where they discussed matters of the island.

They submitted the decisions outcome to the Russian Commission on Jul 16, through a communist by the name of Kristo Astriarix, who came from the island. He delivered the message to Nicolin.  I was able to meet with this man in at Café Al-Saahat in Bhamdoon on the morning of Jul 17.  I have learned that the communist decision includes:

First – Announcing that Cyprus is joining Greece and maintaining its democratic leadership until the Greece situation is resolved.

Second – Organizing resistance to the policies of Indias Virginin, the new top general in Cyprus, who is arriving to the island in days.

Third – Resisting British influence until their forces completely move out of the island.

My source is saying that the communists have brought their proposals to the Greek Party in the island to cooperate with them to accomplish these proposals. However, the Greeks have refused to cooperate with the communists in any way, therefore they decided to continue in their policies.
