RECORD OF A CONVERSATION

with Kim Hyung-mo, Chief of the Consular Department of the DPRK Embassy in the USSR

 

19 October 1956

 

I received Kim Hyung-mo at his request at 1700.

 

Kim said that DPRK Ambassador in the USSR Ri Sang-jo, who is being treated at the Kremlin Hospital, asked him to pass to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for [its] information a translation of his, Ri Sang-jo's, letter to Kim Il Sung. Ri Sang-jo, in Kim Hyung-mo's words, expressed a wish that the leadership of the DVO and Cde. N. T. Fedorenko be familiarized with this letter. Passing me the translation, Kim Hyung-mo added that the original of the letter had already been sent to Kim Il Sung.

 

I told Kim Hyung-mo that I would familiarize myself with the letter and pass it to the leadership of the Department.

 

DVO Attaché I. V. Andreyev was present at the conversation.

 

Attachment: a translation of Ri Sang-jo's letter to Kim Il Sung.

Kim Hyung-mo tells advisor to the Far East Department B.N. Vereshchagin about a letter written by DPRK Ambassador to the USSR Ri Sang-jo, addressed to Kim Il Sung. Ri asked Kim to have it translated into Russian so that Fedorenko could read it as well.
