TELEGRAM TO THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

PRIORITY
North Korea’s Embassy, smuggling.
According to press reports, three persons have been arrested by Swedish police for smuggling activities which are said to be related to the smuggling activities in Norway and Denmark, where the North Korean Embassy has been involved. The Swedish Foreign Ministry has replied to our questions saying ”there were strong indications that the situation was very similar” in Sweden [As in Denmark and Norway], but they would not give more details, as the investigation is still ongoing. Cabinet Secretary Sverker Aaström has told Swedish Dagbladet that the expulsion of Ambassador Kil Jae Gong has not affected Mr Kil’s status in Sweden, which is his resident country.
