Adenauer worried that signing the same documents as the Soviets would recognize the Soviet Occupied Zone."US Embassy Bonn Airgram A-250 to State Department, 'Secretary McNamara’s Conversation with Chancellor Adenauer' ," August 02, 1963, History and Public Policy Program Digital Archive, US State Department FOIA release.
