At 10:50 L.I. arrived in the Kremlin.

 

Received c[omrades] Ponomarev B.N., Mogilevets M.E., Samoteikin E.M., Aleksandrov A.M., Zagladin V.V., Inozemtsev N.N., Gromyko A.A., Dobrynin A.F., Blatov A.I., Chernenko K.U., Kopenkin A.N., Pavlov G.S.

 

Spoke by phone with c[omrades] Suslov M.A., Grechko A.A., Chernenko K.U., Katushev K.F., Andropov Yu.V., Gromyko A.A., Chebrikov V.M., Kosygin A.N., Kulikov V.G.

 

Called: c[omrade] Vinogradov V.M. – Cairo – [this was] reported.

 

From 21:20 to 23:25 L.I. conducted talks with the American delegation, headed by H. Kissinger. Participating from the Soviet side: c[omrades] Gromyko A.A., Dobrynin A.F., Kornienko G.M., Aleksandrov A.M.

 

From 23:25 to 0:45 – dinner, then from 00:45 to 01:10 received comrades who had participated in the talks.

 

L.I. left at 01:25.

 

21 October, Sunday

 

At 04 at night L.I. began his conversation with c[omrade] Vinogradov V.M.  – Cairo. From 04:30 to 05 in the morning called the [Kremlin] reception several times. At 6:40 spoke to c[omrade] Gromyko A.A. At 8:05 arrived in the Kremlin, received c[omrades] Grechko A.A., Gromyko A.A., Chernenko K.U., Aleksandrov A.M., Andropov Yu.V., Kuznetsov V.V.

 

At 9:00 opened a Politburo meeting, which continued until 11:35.

 

From 12:05 to 16:00 – continuation of Soviet-American talks.

 

From 16:15 to 17:50 – meeting of the Politburo.

 

Spoke by phone with c[omrades] Gromyko A.A., Chernenko K.U., Mr. H. Kissinger, c[omrades] Vinogradov V.M. (Cairo), Dobrynin A.F.

 

At 01 on 22/10 L.I. left for the dacha.

 

 

22 October, Monday

 

L.I. was at “Zarechye”, spoke by phone with c[omrades] Chernenko K.U., Aleksandrov A.M.

 

At 12:30 L.I. departed for “Zavidovo”.

 

C[omrades] Borodin L.A. (Astrakhan), Gapurov M.G., Efremov M.T. called L.I.; Kosygin A.N., Kirilenko A.P. stopped by the reception.

 

[Brezhnev] was sent a package with documents, passed the information from c[omrade] Kulikov V.G. about the situation on the Middle Eastern fronts as of 20:00 Moscow time.

 

At 2:00 at night L.I. called the reception[s] of the C[entral] C[ommittee] and the Kremlin.

 

23 October, Tuesday

 

L.I. worked in “Zavidovo”.

 

C[omrades] Rashidov Sh.R. (Tashkent), Gapurov M.G. (Ashkhabad) called the reception to request a meeting; Medunov S.F. (Krasnodar) – [request] for a meeting (stopped by); Suslov M.A., Masherov P.M. (Minsk), Shelepin A.N., Ponomarev B.N. [called] – there was no opportunity to report.

 

Documents were sent to “Zavidovo”.

 

L.I. spoke by phone with c[omrades] Suslov M.A., Chernenko K.U., Ponomarev B.N., Gromyko A.A., Andropov Yu.V.

 

24 October, Wednesday

 

L.I. worked in “Zavidovo”.

 

C[omrade] Gapurov M.G. stopped by the reception.

 

Documents were sent to “Zavidovo”.

Com[rade] Kunaev D.A. called – not reported.

 

 

25 October, Thursday

 

L.I. worked in “Zavidovo”.

 

At 10:35 L.I. flew by helicopter from “Zavidovo” and at 11:10 the helicopter landed in Zarechye.

 

L.I. arrived in the Kremlin at 12:30. Received c[omrades] Grechko A.A., Gromyko A.A., Chernenko K.U.

 

From 12:45 to 15:45 L.I. directed a meeting of the CC CPSU Politburo.

 

From 16 to 17:30 L.I. participated in the work of the World Congress of Peace-loving Forces in the K[remlin] H[all] of the U[nions].

 

From 17:30 to 19:00 L.I. directed a meeting of the CC CPSU Politburo.

 

From 19:30 to 20:30 L.I together with c[omrades] Aleksandrov A.M., Gromyko A.A., Zagladin, Inozemtsev G.M. [sic, should be N.N.], worked on the Congress statement.

 

At 21:00 L.I. departed for the dacha.

 

C[omrades] Kunaev D.A., Gapurov M.G. called – [this was] reported to L.I.

 

26 October, Friday

 

At 15:00 L.I. arrived in the Kremlin – received c[omrade] Kosygin A.N. At 15:30 left for the KHU, where he made a speech at the Congress of Peace-loving Forces.

 

Spoke by phone with c[omrades] Andropov Yu.V., Pilotovich S.A. (Warsaw), Grechko A.A., Katushev K.F., Chernenko K.U., Aleksandrov A.M., E. Gierek (Warsaw), Vinogradov V.M. (Cairo), Mr. R. Nixon (Washington).

 

C[omrades] Gapurov M.G., Zolotukhin G.S., E. Gierek (Warsaw), N. Ceausescu (Bucharest) called.

 

At 20:30 L.I. left for the dacha.

 

At 22:20 L.I. left for the Kremlin, arrived in the Kremlin at 22:45, where he conducted a Politburo meeting on questions connected with the situation in the Middle East. After Politburo received c[omrade] Chernenko K.U., c[omrade] Kapitonov I.V.

 

At 04:25 on 27/10 L.I. left for the dacha.

 

27 October, Saturday

 

L.I. was at the dacha.

 

Spoke by phone with c[omrades] Chernenko K.U., Andropov Yu.V., Grechko A.A., Aleksandrov A.M.

 

At 13:32 flew to Zavidovo by helicopter.

 

C[omrades] Ponomarev B.N., Chazov E.I., Dolgikh V.I. called the reception. C[omrade] Gapurov M.G. stopped by.

 

C[omrades] Chernenko K.U., Bogolyubov K.M. Samoteikin E.M., Blatov A.I., Rusakov K.V., Aleksandrov A.M. were at work.

 

Two packages with documents were sent for L.I. to Zavidovo.

 

28 October, Sunday

 

L.I. worked in “Zavidovo.”

 

A package of documents was sent [there].

 

C[omrades] Chernenko K.U., Rusakov K.V., Bogolyubov K.M. were at work.

 

C[omrades] Blatov A.I., Samoteikin E.M. called the reception.

 

29 October, Monday

 

L.I. worked in “Zavidovo” and at the dacha, called the receptions of the C[entral] C[ommittee] and the Kremlin. Spoke by phone with c[omrades] Chernenko K.U., Kirilenko A.P.

 

C[omrades] Tsukanov G.E., Gapurov M.G. (Ashkhabad) called to ask to a meeting; Nuriev Z.N., Kochinyan A.N. [called] – [this was] reported.

 

At 16:30 L.I. left for Moscow, where he participated in the mourning ceremony for the Marshal of the Soviet Union S.M. Budennyi in the Column Hall of the Hall of the Unions.

 

At 18:45 arrived in the Kremlin.
