Memo
We possess intelligence according to which the Palestinian citizen Ahmed Yusuf was a member of the regular armed forces of the PLO, within which he was a member of various commandos. Because of this, according to his own statements, he cannot go back to Jordan anymore, as he was convicted for the activities he carried out. Moreover, he confessed to a circle of close friends that he was given the death sentence in Israel, as he took part in the terrorist attacks in Munich, carried out at the 1972 Olympic Games, when several athletes from the Israeli delegation were killed.
Ahmed Yusuf is approximately 30-35 years old, he is a third-year med-school student in general medicine in Cluj-Napoca, and he lives on the Hașdeu campus, Dorm no. 7, room no. 5, first floor. He was born in the West Bank, and his family lives in Hebron.
In 1976, he was sent by the PLO to pursue his education in Romania, and so far, he has behaved as normally as possible, so as to deflect attention from himself. In spite all this, Ahmed Yusuf meets with all Palestinian students in Cluj-Napoca and openly manifests his disapproval of President Sadat’s policy, whom he describes as a traitor of the Arab world. His circle of friends includes Israeli students, towards whom he adopts a friendly attitude and whose company he seeks.
