Transcript of Conversation between Zhou Enlai and Reporters in Cairo

Premier Zhou and Chen Yi answer questions from reporters in Cairo. Zhou and Chen were asked about issues such as their visit to Arab and African countries, China's support for national liberation movements in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, the United Arab Republic (Egypt) and Sri Lanka's perspective of the Sino-Indian border conflict, the purpose of the Chinese delegation's visit to Arab and African countries, issues that will be discussed in potential second Bandung Conference, the Sino-Soviet split, and the Pakistani national movement. Zhou also explains why China opposed the ban on nuclear test treaty.

Cable from Xie Kexi, 'Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike’s Attitude toward the Sino-Indian Boundary Issue and Her Inclinations'

Report on the attitude of Ceylon's Prime Minister Bandaranaike towards the Sino-Indian conflict: While China had the upper hand both politically and militarily, Mrs. Bandaranaike was taking sides with India. The report predicted that Mrs. Bandaranaike's proposal would fail and proposed that China should politically take the offensive against India.

Cable from Yao Zhongming, 'The Sino-Indian Boundary Issue'

Subandrio expressed his support for China in the dispute with India, going as far as saying that "India deserved to be taught a lesson". He went on to offer his view on how to solve the conflict through negotiations. Subandrio also discussed Indonesian involvement in the upcoming Six-Nation Conference which would concern the Sino-Indian Conflict as well as the preparation for a Second Asian-African Conference.
