May 15, 1956	Gazette of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, 1956, No. 18 (Overall Issue No. 44) This issue addresses the organization of a local People's Congress and People's Committees for the Xiangxi Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hunan. It also includes plans to implement a cultural and entertainment tax with two-year exemptions for Chinese opera, dramas, Western opera, dance, music, folk theater, and acrobatics. Other sections consider a piece-rate pay system for workers on state-owned mechanized farms and problems with improving secondary education.
May 12, 1956	Gazette of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, 1956, No. 17 (Overall Issue No. 43) This issue features a statement about Sino-Cambodian trade and letters that the Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade, Ye Jizhuang, exchanged with his Sudanese counterpart, Ibrahim al-Mufti. It also discusses construction, budget appropriations for post and telecommunications enterprises, and flood control. Other sections address educational matters, including convening a national meeting for outstanding primary and secondary school teachers.
April 16, 1956	Gazette of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, 1956, No. 14 (Overall Issue No. 40) In this issue, Zhou Enlai congratulates the Prime Minister of Morocco, Mbarek Bekkay, and the Prime Minister of Tunisia, Tahar Ben Ammar, after both countries won their independence. April 10, 1956	Gazette of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, 1956, No. 13 (Overall Issue No. 39) This issue first discusses a movement to promote and encourage "exemplary producers" in agricultural production cooperatives around the country. It also covers plans to hold a conference for martyrs, disabled revolutionary soldiers, and demobilized military personnel. Other sections address spring plowing, the elimination of illiteracy, and an investigation into Chinese dialects.

It also announces and discusses a Sino-Lebanese trade agreement. Other sections cover the organization of local People's Committees, the socialist transformation of rural private businesses, wholesale and retail improvements for department stores, and the transfer of six "natural villages" (自然屯) from Hebei Province to Liaoning.
March 10, 1956	Gazette of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, 1956, No. 09 (Overall Issue No. 35) This issue features a political report from Zhou Enlai, which discusses the Five-Year Plan, the transformation of Chinese intellectuals, the United States, and Taiwan. It also conveys instructions from the Department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Health, the Sports Committee, and the New Democracy Youth League (later the Communist Youth League) to further develop sports in colleges and universities. February 22, 1956	Gazette of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, 1956, No. 07 (Overall Issue No. 33) This issue discusses a government proposal for the normalization of Sino-Japanese relations. It also addresses the transformation of private industries and the liquidation of private enterprise property. Other sections cover labor protections for coal miners, the promotion of standard Mandarin, plans for pinyin, as well as awards for outstanding teachers and students who have sought to combat illiteracy.
February 6, 1956	Gazette of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, 1956, No. 05 (Overall Issue No. 31) Several sections of this issue address agricultural development and production. It also includes a statement about U.S. State Department misinterpretations of the Sino-American ambassadorial talks. One section discusses winter vacation activities for students in primary, secondary, and normal (pedagogical) schools.
January 16, 1956	Gazette of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, 1956, No. 02 (Overall Issue No. 28) This issue begins with an announcement from the Chinese, Mongolian, and Soviet governments about the completion of a connective railway. Zhou Enlai and the Chinese government also recognize the independence of Sudan. Other sections discuss the ongoing Sino-American ambassadorial talks, retirement and sick leave benefits for state employees, and the simplification of Chinese characters.
