In September 1977, W. Jaruzelski  visited Mongolia and the DPRK. While in North Korea, Jaruzelski met with President Kim Il Sung and the Minister of National Defense O Jin U.  Although Jaruzelski did make several critical comments about the DPRK in his secret post-trip report, he still spoke in highly favorable terms about the country and generally recommended that Poland strengthen its relations with North Korea. 

Jaruzelsk's report also includes commentary on China's relations with both Mongolia and the DPRK.

Comrade Dedo, Poland's ambassador in North Korea, reports that Sino-DPRK relations are cooling because of Beijing's increasing trade with South Korea.

The Romanian military attaché discusses the Sino-Soviet border conflict and the state of Sino-North Korean relations. The Polish attaché describes Romania as being "under a considerable Chinese influence.

According to Romanian sources, China is still supplying the DPRK with weapons and artillery pieces. China also promised they will offer the DPRK all kinds of help in the event of a conflict on the peninsula.
