A record of a conversation in which Brezhnev and Ceausescu discuss weather or not to say that the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty will only be signed once the United States ends its actions in Vietnam. Brezhnev advises not to raise the issue, while Ceausescu claims that it must be stated in order to advance a solution towards disarmament.

Brezhnev and Ceausescu begin by extending warm welcomes to one another before diving into the importance of finalizing a draft of a nuclear nonproliferation treaty. Most of the discussion is spent arguing over the relevance of disarmament within the treaty.

These British Never Learn Do They, Adolf?

This Coalition for Peace through Security poster likens the British peace movement of the early 1980s to pacifist groups in the 1930s and to the policy of appeasement. The poster depicts Leonid Brezhnev, Soviet leader until his death in November 1982, addressing Hitler, thereby associating the Soviets with the threat posed by Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

Soviet Ambassador Dobrynin met with US Secretary of State Vance and requested that he pass on a letter to President Carter from Brezhnev. The letter addressed finding a realistic approach to nuclear disarmament and the previous agreement in Vladivostok.
