UNCURK observed that the Korean people elected President Park Chung Hee. They believe Kim Dae Jung, who did favorably, may have suffered defeat because of his fragmented party.

In the election campaigns, the NDP is focusing on the corruption of the DRP, and the DRP is focusing on continued economic and political stability with Park Chung Hee's third election.

The presidential elections in South Korea are set for 27 April 1927, and four candidates are running: Park Chung Hee, Kim Dae Jung, Kim Chul, and Song Po Kyong.

During a press conference, President Park Chung Hee announces the withdrawal of ROK troops from Vietnam. Kuzbari notes that this decision is likely due to the upcoming presidential election, the strong opposition party, and the withdrawal of US troops from the ROK.
