Conversation from [Mao Zedong's] Audience with Kim Il Sung
REMARKS FROM [MAO ZEDONG’S] AUDIENCE WITH KIM IL SUNG
(November 1958 in Wuhan)
Our party, our nation is strong and solid, and today there is no power that capable of overthrowing our country or overthrowing our party. If we keep doing things right, we can become stronger. However, we haven’t yet achieved the final consolidation, there is a possibility that we could suffer a big battlefield defeat, and the enemy could, along this line, occupy Shanghai, occupy Wuhan, occupy Beijing, as well as occupy Zhengzhou, and we would have to withdraw to the mountain areas in the Northwest and Southwest, there is this possibility. However, we can guarantee that in the end we would be able, after several years of struggle, in the end we would be able to restore our China, and ultimately defeat Imperialism. We can’t merely see the smooth development right now, we have to be prepared for this at all times.
Mao discusses the consolidation of mainland China and the need to defeat imperialism.
