KOREAN DELEGATION

November 18, 1947

Your excellency,

The Korean people welcome your membership on the Temporary Commission in Korea with great rejoicing. As a champion of freedom and democracy, you will be able to contribute to the liberation of Korea from all foreign influence.

Let me assure you that our people will do all they can to facilitate your work. Realizing your interest in their freedom, they will offer you every opportunity to consult with our national leaders, Dr. Syngman Rhee and Mr. Kim Koo.

Efforts may be made to pawn off figureheads as representatives of the Korean people, but we know that the Chinese Delegation is aware of the deep friendship existing between our peoples and between our leaders, Gen. Chiang Kai Shek and Dr. Rhee. We have full confidence in your efforts on our behalf.

Respectfully yours,
